Changes and new adventures

It's been a while since I have written anything for the blog - life has been way too busy!

I have many ideas for new blog posts, but I thought it might be good to simply update you on why I have been absent form writing, and the new changes that have happened since my last blog- which was Matariki!

Tuatahi - firstly, we have moved and I am now based in the Bay of Plenty, back in my turangawaewae - my standing place -  Rotorua.

I am still travelling to Tamaki Makaurau /Auckland a bit though, and will be up on Thursday 8th December for an in studio yoga class and pop up shops before Christmas.

My focus though is now firmly on teaching online, and creating online experiences and offerings that students will love, so that you can receive the gifts of yoga, where ever you may be.

I wanted to continue to share the gift of yoga, as there are sooo many gifts.

That has always been the kaupapa.

Share what I know to work - to enhance the lives of others as it has enhanced my life. And I believe yoga teachers really want this for their students, it is not something you do for fame or money, rather it's for sharing.

Many people believe they can't do yoga because they aren't flexible enough, they are too flexible, they are too unfit, too old or they don't have the right body shape or size. Well that is all myth. Yoga is for all, there is a practice that will work for most people regardless of shape, size, fitness etc.

The biggest MYTH would be the flexibility one! No you do not have to be flexible to do yoga.

Come to your mat with an open mind and loving heart, and you never know what you may receive. Today's gift may be different to yesterdays, come as a beginner how ever long you have been going, this way the practice becomes your own, as do the postures.

Just be you, do you, and the right practices will come to those who seek them ( it takes a bit of effort, but you are worth it. )

Practice on a regular basis to really receive the gifts of yoga, like feeling more peace, caring for your body, and mental and physical wellbeing.

Especially in troubled times the gifts of yoga are more important than ever, and there are practices that help us in many 'rough patches' of life, be they physical , mental or emotional.

So I am here in BOP now - with an aim to be an excellent online teacher and maybe even reach those who may not feel they belong in the yoga world, but yes you do.

I am enjoying more time with my mokos and whānau, and the journey and adventures that are to come.

I have swapped my beloved awa / river for the roto/ lake!

And there is the peacefulness of being out of the city and the traffic!

I still love Helensville though, and I will always love many things about Auckland- the multicultural experience, the west coast - wild black sand beaches I LOVE, the people and the awa of Te Awaroa.

But for now, I am enjoying the roto - and have a lot to catch up on. With trips back and forth it is not easy to feel grounded, but one thing that has helped is my yoga practice. It has been especially beneficial for when I am stressed or tired - and we all know how stressful and tiring moving can be!

I have found the breathing practices especially beneficial and necessary. And yes even yoga teachers need to remember to breathe! We practice these weekly online in our classes, and students have the option to do them again via the recordings.

So if you'd like to catch up with me, do a yoga class or check out the shop - I will be teaching in the Studio December 8th at 7pm. All those not enrolled in āio - or Thursday night course - please contact me if you wish to attend, booking is required. Āio participants do not need to book, just come along on the night.

And our shop will be open Friday 10-5 and Saturday 10-3 with fantastic bargains on beautiful new and pre-loved clothing,  jewellery and eco friendly yoga mats.

Ka kite akuanei -  hope to see you soon!
